You may think this is off topic, but I have something important to say.
Due to the horrific events of hurricane katrina, I did what I could and sent some money to the Red Cross. If you have any means of helping, I strongly urge you to do so. As most of you can see, the government seems to think it can take its time. Rather, if they had acted more quickly, none of the rioting would occur and many people wouldn't have wound up dead from starvation and dehydration. Those are sad, pathetic ways to die. Not to mention the mayor calling off the search and rescue mission to stop looters and "hoodlums".
And if I'm going to be attacked for an off topic post... women and young girls are being constantly raped by men who have seriously lost all their screws. It's all so inhuman that we need to do something fast to stop it from happening. What's sad, is officials are seeing it---and not doing a damn thing.
Please help these poor, lonely people. They feel forgotten, depressed and dismayed. I dont care if you send $5 or write a letter to your congressman. Just do something.

Just on the radio yesterday I heard in the last two days there had been more than a dozen reported rapes.
We are all survivors seperated by time, distance and space. But like the rest of humanity, we come together in the name of tragedy.
Every little cent helps get people out of there. It can help other women and men from being violated.
John Stossinger observed that in times of great chaos, tragedy reveals itself in the after-math. What is occuring in Louisiana is clearly chaotic, and the results are typical in places of political turmoil. Until the situation is resolved or people can be evacuated accordingly, the number of the victimized will continue to rise.
Thank you for your impassioned plea.
